City of Owenton, Owen County, Kentucky

Owenton Kentucky has the highest deer population in all of the surrounding areas. The poeple are always friendly and inviting and everybody knows your name.

    Primary interests here are horse and cattle farming. Grape growing is fast becoming an alternative to the tobacco industry, thanks to the lovely people at Elk Creek Vineyards. Itron, a gas meter manufacturing company, Owen Electric, and the Owenton school system are the largest employers in the area. Many residents easily make the commute to the larger cities for employment.

    In 1999 the Kentucky Speedway, a NASCAR Race Track was completed, causing interest and growth in the area. Elk Creek Hunt Club has brought tourism and the 2009 us open to Owen County as well as the resorts areas; Elk Lake and Perry Park.

    If you are looking for a place to get away from the hectic, Owen County may be just the one. It is not uncommon to be at a board meeting for the Chamber of Commerce and see a red fox walk casually by the window. Or sitting in a dentist chair and watching the cows grazing in the pasture just across the drive.
